3 Easy Ways to Reduce your Carbon Footprint

By reducing our everyday carbon emissions, we help make the environment cleaner and more enjoyable for all of us to live in. Here are 3 easy ways to reduce your carbon footprint:

1.) Recycle As Much As Possible
Although you won’t get paid for recycling paper products, it’s still extremely important to do so. With deforestation a growing problem, the more trees we can conserve, the better. Shipping boxes and cereal boxes can be recycled, as can paper products like brochures, catalogues, copy paper, envelopes, flyers, greeting cards, labels, books, letters, magazines, mail, and newspapers.

2.) Be Auto-nomous

You can do this by making wise, environment-conscious decisions regarding automobile use. For instance, walk or ride your bicycle when traveling a short distance. You’ll lessen carbon emissions while saving some gas money in the process. If you have to drive, say to work, try to carpool. If that’s not possible, public transportation is another great alternative. Finally, invest in a fuel-efficient car like an electric or hybrid model when purchasing your next vehicle.

3.) Paper or Plastic?

It doesn’t really matter which one you choose, both are recyclable! Plastic bags and containers can be recycled as long as you remember to empty them first. If possible, please rinse. In addition to paper bags, plastic items with recycle codes 1, 2, 4 and 5 are eligible to be recycled as well.

Implementing just a few easy recycling and reducing techniques can go a long way toward making our planet a more pleasant place to live and raise kids in. Go to 911Restoration.com for more helpful tips for your home including how to avoid water damage and mold on paper products that get wet.
